FAQs
We’ve answered some of the most common questions about our parties, face painting, and creative services below. If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please do get in touch - we’re always happy to help plan something perfect for you.
General Face Painting
Will it come off in time for school the next day?
Yes! We use professional, EU-compliant, water-based face paints that are gentle on the skin, and that wash off easily with warm water and soap. Create Well Project uses only skin-safe, hypoallergenic products designed specifically for children.
Is it okay to paint over makeup (for adults)?
We can paint over light makeup, although for the best results we recommend a clean, dry face.
Will you paint my child who is 2 and a half years old?
We do not offer face painting for children under 3.
Why don’t you paint children under 3?
This is due to health and safety. Younger children tend to have more sensitive skin, may struggle to sit still, and are more likely to touch or rub the paint.
Can parents have their face painted too?
Absolutely! We love including grown-ups; simple or festival-style designs are always popular.
My child is autistic; is that okay?
Of course. We aim to create a calm, inclusive and supportive environment and will always adapt where possible to suit each child.
They might not sit still; is that okay?
We’ll always do our best, but for safety and quality we may need to stop if a child is moving too much. We are experienced and will adapt to each child – we may simplify a design or offer something quicker to make sure they feel safe, comfortable and happy throughout.
They don’t usually like face painting; is it okay to try?
Yes, we’re happy to gently offer it, but we never pressure children. If they don’t want it, that’s absolutely fine.
We see it as a privilege when children who don’t usually like face paint want to give it a go with us. We take time to explain the process and can demonstrate on ourselves or a willing parent first. We will always stop at any point if the child wants us to, with the aim that they leave having had a positive experience.
Do you use water-based paints?
Yes, all paints are professional, cosmetic-grade, water-based, and designed to be gentle on skin.
Face Painting Parties & Events
Can you come for just 1 hour?
Yes, shorter bookings can sometimes be accommodated depending on availability and location. It often depends on numbers, so that we can ensure we’re able to paint everyone within the time frame – please get in touch and we’ll advise what works best.
I’m having a small party (around 8 children); will you still come?
Yes! We cater for both small and large parties and can tailor the session to suit your group size. When we have more time with smaller groups, we love adding extra detail and creativity to each design.
Can I combine face painting with another activity?
Definitely. Many clients choose to combine face painting with crafts, glitter tattoos, hair braiding or balloons to create a full party package.
How long does each face take?
This depends on the design, but typically around 3–5 minutes for standard party designs to keep queues moving smoothly.
How do you make it look so easy?
Lots of practice! We’re experienced artists who specialise in working with children, so we know how to balance speed, quality, and making it fun; you’re in very capable hands.
How long have you been doing this for?
Our founder has many years of experience in art, teaching, and running workshops, supported by a trained team of assistants.
Lisa has been face painting since 2022, and Tess since 2024.
Is this your full-time job?
Yes, this is a professional service, and we are dedicated to delivering high-quality, creative experiences for every event.
Glitter Tattoos
Can glitter tattoos go on the face?
No, glitter tattoos are designed for body placement only (e.g. arms or hands), not the face. They use very fine glitter particles, which can be dangerous and difficult to remove if they get into the eyes.
Can under 3s have a glitter tattoo?
No, we do not offer glitter tattoos for children under 3. However, we always carry stickers so younger children don’t feel left out, and they are very welcome to sit in the chair and enjoy a mini experience if they’d like.
How long do they last?
Typically 3–7 days, depending on skin type and aftercare.
How do you remove them?
They can be removed using baby oil, makeup remover, or rubbing alcohol.
Arts & Crafts Parties
How many activities can we choose?
We’ll guide you based on your party length and age group to ensure everything runs smoothly without feeling rushed.
As a guide, we usually run one main longer activity, with a second shorter activity ready if needed. We’re always happy to include more activities if time allows, or extend the session (subject to availability and an additional cost).
What activities can we choose from?
We offer a wide range including crafts, bracelet making, painting, hair accessories, clay, tie-dye, and more. Our Art Party Activities page provides more details information, and we’re happy to help you choose.
